MathScore® Privacy Policy
What We Do With Your Information
We never have, and never will sell or give away your personal information to third parties for the purpose of marketing. For example, your email address and any personally identifiable information will never end up on a marketing list without your consent. Your information would only be shared with a third party if it is absolutely necessary for the integrity of your account. For example, if you were to purchase a MathScore subscription through a third party, we may have to share information with that third party to verify the purchase.Any other use of your information will be for internal use to improve our quality of service. For example, we use student data to guide a variety of our business decisions.
The only exceptions are when we are required by law to supply your information, or if we are acquired by a third party, who would then be in charge of the privacy of your information.
Facebook User Information
On occasion, you or your children may achieve something significant within MathScore. When this happens, we may provide you with a chance to post the accomplishment to your wall. We also may provide you with a chance to post to your wall when you first sign up with MathScore. We do require your email address when you sign up using Facebook. This is necessary so that we can contact you when necessary. You will not be added to any email lists and your email address will never be sold to a third party.
Information We Collect
We only collect personal information when it is absolutely necessary. For example, in MathScore Freemium, we collect your billing information if you wish to make a purchase. Your billing information is stored on file on a secure server with encrypted credit card numbers. It stays on file for the purpose of making monthly subscription payments. However, after making a purchase, you can also immediately delete your credit card information. In order to make a credit card charge, we make encrypted requests to Cybersource to process your actual credit card payments. All user passwords are stored using a special one-way encryption algorithm. So although we can verify that you typed the right password, we never actually know your real password. In practical terms, this means that in the event of a security breach, an attacker would never be able to access your password, and therefore would not be able to use our password information to break into your personal accounts stored on other websites. If you forget your password, we supply a new password since we cannot actually recover your previous password.
We also collect student information, such as grade level, first name, last name, and username. However, you can give your students any name you want, so if you are very protective, you are more than welcome to assign fake first names and last names to your students.
We use web browser cookies in order to track users. These cookies are necessary in order to maintain a proper user session while logged in to use our product. In addition, if you visited us through a referring website or person, sometimes we save that information so that we can assess the success of our advertising campaigns.
Security Policy
We use industry standard SSL (secure sockets layer) technology to encrypt all sensitive data used in MathScore Freemium. For example, submission of all passwords, credit card info, etc. are protected through encryption methods.Non-sensitive transmissions, such as student worksheet attempts or website feedback, are not encrypted.
Final Notes
We reserve the right to change our privacy policy as our service evolves. The current privacy policy will always be found here.Last updated: April 3, 2012
