The number to the left of the decimal point is a whole number.
The number to the right of the decimal point is the fraction or decimal.
We convert decimals to fractions by looking at the right-most place value of the decimal.
0.7 |
The place value goes to the tenths, so 0.7 = |

0.25 |
The place value goes to the hundredths, so 0.25 = |

which simplifies to |

The place value goes to the thousandths, so 0.638 = |

To convert decimals to fractions,
- Take out the whole number (the number to the left of the decimal point)
- Use the right-most place value of the decimal to determine the fraction value
