Here are some tips for Ratios, which aligns with New York state standards:

Ratios


Ratios show a comparison between two groups. Ratios can be written in three ways.
For example, the ratio of 2 to 5 can be written as
2 to 5or2 : 5or2/5.


Example 1: Same ratio, different forms

10 : 7 can be written as   10 to 7   or   10/7.
4/6 can be written as   4 : 6   or   4 to 6.


Example 2: Identifying ratios

Write the ratio. Do not simplify.
a.   yellow to circles :
Count:   6 yellow figures to 3 circles
b.   all figures to blue to
Count:   total of 8 figures to 2 blue figures
c.   stars to all figures :
Count:   5 stars to total of 8 figures
