    OR
  2. Convert both numbers to decimals and compare
Pick the way that is easy for you.

Example 1: Greater than

Compare. Round fractions to the nearest hundredth when comparing. For example, 2/3 = 0.67.
0.73
Comparing Fractions Comparing Decimals
  ?   0.73   ?   0.73
  ?   0.5   ?   0.73
  >   0.5   >   0.73
This means that 0.73

Example 2: Less than

Compare. Round fractions to the nearest hundredth when comparing. For example, 2/3 = 0.67.
1 1.41
Comparing Fractions Comparing Decimals
1   ?   1.41 1   ?   1.41
1   ?   1 1.4   ?   1.41
1   <   1 1.4   <   1.41
The answer is 1 1.41

Example 3: Equal to

Compare. Round fractions to the nearest hundredth when comparing. For example, 2/3 = 0.67.
0.33
For this problem, we can ONLY compare decimals.
This is because 1/3 = 0.3333333....
Rounding to the nearest hundredth, 1/3 = 0.33
So, the answer is 0.33
