The commutative property means that the order does not matter. In this topic, we work with the commutative property of addition.
Here is an example of the commutative property:
2 + 5 5 + 2The answer is the same no matter the order of the numbers.
2 + 5 = 7 5 + 2 = 7
The property holds true even if you have more than two operands.
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10
3 + 4 + 1 + 2 = 10
An operation is "commutative" if the answer to a problem is the same regardless of the order of the operands. Addition is a commutative operation.
