Here are some tips for Odd or Even, which aligns with California state standards:

Odd or Even



Even numbers have a 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 in the ones place.
Odd numbers have a 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 in the ones place.

Zero, 0, is an even number.


Example 1:

Is the number odd or even?
37847

There is a 7 in the ones place: 37847
Odd numbers have a 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 in the ones place.
So the number 37847 is odd.


Example 2:

Is the number odd or even?
29588

There is an 8 in the ones place: 29588
Even numbers have a 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 in the ones place.
So the number 29588 is even.
